The Cinematic Fashion Series is a personal project my team and I began shooting this year. There are plenty of great commercial fashion ads out there–some extremely artistic and others very raw. However, I wanted to do something a little different, I wanted to tell a story–to create a series of projects which are styled and laid out like fashion shoots, but shot cinematically like an action movie.
In the 30+ billion dollar movie industry, the biggest sellers are not the artistic films, but the action blockbusters. This is not a mistake, people love to be entertained. They love good stories.
It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child. -Pablo Picasso
Jack of all trades, master of some, Martin Angelo started his early life drawing and painting but later became enamored with the mix of art and technology in photography, film and video. To help pay for his undergraduate studies, he worked as a graphic and web designer at a visual arts center in Los Angeles and then transitioned to film and film postproduction for the Getty Foundation. Although he continues to dabble in other media, after graduating in 2001 from USC with a BA, he focused most of his creative energy on photography. His biggest passion is telling stories and has found that photography has given him the perfect mix of technological geekiness, art and the medium to tell a great story.
